- - Silicon Valley Employers International Forum: Employers Forum Collectively Manages Global Rewards
The Silicon Valley Employers International Forum (SVEIF) ¡ª a group of Silicon Valley¨Cbased companies operating in 54 countries with more than 64,000 employees and 10,000 benefit plans ¡ª faced an enormous challenge in 2003: Help members manage benefit programs on a global basis, while addressing business issues related to corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and competitive standing.
The SVEIF chose Capwiit to implement an innovative global solution to collect, manage and review benefit data through its web-based benefits tracking tool, BenTrack™. We customized an application that allows each member company to store and manage its own data. Through this site, participants have access to high-tech market data, mandatory benefit requirements and Social Security benefits information. In addition, our solution provides participants with "read-only" access to one another's company-sponsored benefit plan designs, a unique arrangement that allows the companies to benchmark their programs and establish best practices.
After five months of data collection, the SVEIF's efforts began to pay off. Information sharing began, and companies could evaluate the market position of their benefit programs against other SVEIF-member companies and the larger high-tech sector. Several companies also began to integrate BenTrack into their internal M&A processes during the due diligence phase of acquisitions. The side-by-side reporting capabilities of BenTrack gave companies an efficient tool to quickly identify gaps in coverage within countries and to harmonize benefits. We will continue to adapt BenTrack to the SVEIF¡¯s expanding needs, both domestically and internationally.
